The Common Hornbean is a medium-sized deciduous tree with an oval crown. Matching in shape, its oval shaped, dark green leaves maintain color through spring while in the fall it becomes a yellow-orange color. Male catkins are yellow and female catkins are green, while small fruits cluster in the summer.
