Inkberry thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, acidic clay or sandy soil, though it also tolerates moist or occasionally wet conditions. Moderately salt-tolerant and naturally adapted to boggy environments, it requires little pruning unless grown as a hedge. If needed, prune in early spring before new growth begins.
