This native herbaceous perennial forms an upright, clumping habit, reaching 3–6' tall. Orangish-yellow, daisy-like flowers with brown to golden-yellow cone-shaped centers brighten the landscape in summer. A member of the daisy family, it is native to Southeastern Canada and much of the North Central and Eastern United States.

Easy to grow and adaptable, this plant thrives in full sun and tolerates a variety of soil types, including clay, dry, and poor soils. Provide well-drained soil with medium moisture to dry conditions, as shade can lead to weaker stems and reduced hardiness. Deadhead spent blooms to extend flowering, or cut stems back in late May to reduce plant height.
