Grow in full sun to part-shade on well-drained soil; hyssop thrives in average to dry-medium moisture and is tolerant of poor, sandy or loamy soils. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce watering as the plant becomes drought-tolerant. Prune lightly in early spring to renew growth. Apply a light fertilizer in spring if desired, but avoid over-feeding in heavy soils.
