A classic garden perennial is improved upon with electric blue blossoms that each have their own dark eye in the center of each flower. Butterflies and hummingbirds flock to the large flowers. You will want to bring some stalks inside as they make excellent cut-flower bouquets. These hybrid Delphiniums are bred for strong stems to hold up the enormous flowers, excellent form, and when other Delphiniums succumb to heat or humidity these keep producing all while showing excellent cold hardiness.
The New Millenium hybrids show more tolerance to heat and humidity. Applying compost or manure for added nutrients will produce a healthier and stronger plant. Delphiniums usually respond well to repeat fertilizer applications throughout the season. Plant in a sunny location, shadier conditions can cause floppy flower stems and they may need staking.
