Growing & Maintenance Tips for Andropogon gerardii
Grow in average, dry to medium-moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates a wide range of soil types and growing conditions. Produces abundant growth in moist, fertile soils but is less likely to flop in drier, less fertile conditions. Freely self-seeds in ideal growing conditions. Develops an extensive root system and may take time to establish, but becomes highly drought-tolerant and easy to maintain once established. Cut stems back to the ground in late winter before new growth emerges.
