| The Heroes of Camp
Hemlocks
This summer marks the 54th season for Easter
Seals Camp Hemlocks. It’s another welcomed opportunity
for our disabled campers to bask in the sunshine, enjoy a
boat ride at the pond, throw a line out at the fishing dock,
swim in our totally accessible indoor pool or participate
in any of the other activities adapted just for them. Located
on 160 acres of nature at its very best, Easter Seals Camp
Hemlocks provides an opportunity for each child or adult who
comes to camp to totally engage themselves in an environment
that focuses only on what they can do and respects their dignity
and independence in a loving, safe and supported environment.
All this is possible because of the generosity
of community partners like Sara’s
Superb Herbs and Prides Corner Farms. As the owners of
retail markets and garden centers, your support of this program
will enable Prides Corner Farms to provide in excess of $150,000
in funding to Camp Hemlocks by the end of 2005. It is important
for you to know, that no child or adult is ever been denied
an opportunity to attend Camp Hemlocks because of caring and
generous people like yourselves and the wonderful people at
Sara’s Superb Herbs and Prides Corner Farms.
On behalf of all of us at Easter Seals Camp
Hemlocks, please accept my personal thanks to each of you
who makes the decision to support this program by purchasing
Sara’s Superb Herbs for your garden center. Your extraordinary
help has given the gifts of independence, ability, dignity,
and freedom to children and adults with disabilities and made
their lives richer for the experience!

Leo
is 41 years old, last year after being a camper at Easter
Seals Camp Hemlocks for 26 years, he finally climbed
the accessible climbing tower with the help and encouragement
of other campers. Leo has dubbed Camp Hemlocks as “Club
Med for the Disabled”. He has said that without
Camp Hemlocks he would not lead the life that he leads
now. He says that Easter Seals “saved him”.
Without the support of partner’s like Sara’s
Superb Herbs, Camp Hemlocks could not exist. |
